On Days When Nobody Seems to be Listening...

Some people always have it worse off!

I was reminded of that by a funny scene the other day when I dropped Darci off at school. As I was walking back to my van, I passed three people...a young man, and two ladies. One of the ladies must have been the guy's girlfriend because they were holding hands and acting rather silly. He was, no exaggeration, probably 8 inches shorter than her. I think he came to her shoulder. The other lady was short as well, so I'm guessing she was his mother...or possibly grandmother...she did look pretty old.

Anyway, as I passed them they were laughing and having a jolly time. They opened the door to the car in front of mine and slid into the back seat one by one. There were two men in the front. As we began driving down the road, the backseat began to get really rowdy. They were laughing and bouncing up and down in their seats. I am not joking...they looked like a bunch of toddlers in the backseat. And then, the guy (who was sitting in the middle) grabbed the woman who looked to be his Grandma and gave her a noogie. He just put her in a headlock and kept rubbing her head while she was waving her arms around. You could tell they were having a blast in their own odd way. I was just dying...I have never seen a man give a grandma a noogie before.

And during this whole time the windows were down so their hair was blowing around as well...it just added to the chaos of the scene. And then to add to the humor of this scene, the man in the passenger seat up front suddenly reclined his seat and began signing in a mad flurry!! If hands could shout...his were! The three in the back were so busy giving each other noogies and bouncing up and down that they didn't seem to be noticing the flying hands in the front seat. I just busted a gut at the whole scene.

It made me glad that at times when I'm trying to get myself heard, at least I do have a voice and don't just have to waive my hands around desperately. Although, there are times when I feel about as successful as the poor guy in the front seat.

So, there's always something to be grateful for in even the most frustrating of circumstances!

Hope you're being heard today...if not, go to the One who is always available!

Love,

Bek
