Our Tradition

Yesterday was Matt's last day of teaching. Since our first summer as an engaged couple, we have made it a tradition by getting ice cream on his last day. Now that we have kiddos, we've added a picnic to the tradition. We meet Matt at a park, eat our lunch and then he runs and gets the ice cream and brings it back to the park. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures of us enjoying our ice cream...I guess I was too engrossed in the delicious stuff myself!! So, here are pictures of the kids after we ate playing on the playground.

We were at a park that has one of those splash pads...that's why they are in their suits. When they saw the masses of kids playing in the water, they all three got shy and didn't want to leave my side. So, we finally were able to get them to play on this playground equipment when we sat right by on the bench and watched.

Here are Josh and Darci
Matt feeling free on his last day of school. His famous saying that we always say at the beginning of any vacation is, "We have more vacation ahead of us right now than we'll ever have!" It's his way of savoring the moment...and it does make vacation seem endless somehow.

Garrison hanging out

...there's a smile!

And here's our daredevil. She hasn't had enough falls in her life to have a decent fear of heights. She kept stepping out on to this twirly thing and yelling, "whoa...whoa...whoaaaa!!!" But smiling the whole time.

Then when we'd try to help her she'd scurry back to get off by her self!

And this is the look she gave me when I told her she needed to be careful. Seriously, my Mom used to make this exact face when we'd say we thought she was doing something that wasn't allowed or when we were worried she was going to embaress herself (or more like embaress us). It's a look that said, "honest to pete!" and stubbornly went on her way. Aria can be just like that.

I asked Josh to smile for a picture and this is waht he did...I can't wait till he'll just smile for a picture rather than have some sort of hand signal or crazy expression. I'm not sure when that's going to happen.

I am SO happy it's summer!! WOOO HOOO!!!

the daredevil stuff, and some other things i'm forgetting, make me wonder if aria and faye aren't going to have some similarities. and of course, faye ALWAYS has to do it herself.

this looks so fun. :) did you get aria's suit at target? i think i almost bought the same one for faye.

I am so excited about summer for my kids but I cannot imagine how much MORE exciting it is for the teachers! They work so hard. I hope your summer feels long and lazy!

Hey Shar,
Heidi got the suit at Target for Aria. I love it! That would have been so fun if they had matching suits for when we're on the lake this summer! Love ya!

Rebekah~ I love the pic of Josh doing six fingers. If I were you, I would frame it!! He won't be six for long and someday it will be a precious shot!

We visit the various splash parks a few times a week, they are great (however Philly gets really shy). We need to get together for a playdate soon!
