On a Cold Night

One of the nights we were snowed in after the blizzard here, Tami and Leah came up and ate dinner with us.

Then they worked on making jewelry for Darci.
...and entertaining the kids

While Matt was slaving over a boiling pot.

Tami and Leah waited patiently...

while the taffy slowly worked its way up to 250 degrees.

Josh even had time to eat a bowl of cereal (remember we just ate supper? he is constantly eating!)
and Aria waited anxiously, even though she had no idea what we were going to be doing.

Once the taffy was cool enough to handle, we began pulling!

Josh did great

Garrison was a crab...I think it ws just weird to him to see some of the familiar grown ups in his life playing with huge pieces of silly putty
Leah and Tami lay the taffy out.

Freezing out in the cold snow

the final batch...which was the best!

It was such a fun and cozy thing to do when we were all snowed in. Way to go Matt for thinking of it. I think anything we do around here that is fun, cozy and creates memories is his idea!

Too bad we weren't around to be snowed in with you guys...sounds like so much fun! haven't had taffy since the last time we were at your house.

What a great idea! I haven't been to a taffy pull since I lived at home with my parents. I remember we would always hang the taffy on the clothesline outside to freeze.
