What Do You Do When it's COLD?

We decided to have a taffy pull!! It was so much fun!! The group was a blast and there were lots of laughs and I think everyone had some taffy stuck to their feet or socks before the night was over. Hope the pictures give you a glimpse of the energy and fun in the room!

The boiling taffy...I had to keep this one in color...it just looks more yummy that way.
Too many cooks in the kitchen? No way! The more the merrier! Waiting...and waiting...and waiting for the taffy to reach 250 degrees!!waiting for the taffy to cool enough to handle
The fun part...the pulling!

Unfortunately, the first batch was a bit of a flop.

even the kids got involved

the batch that actually seemed to work

these two were the taffy pulling champs...they were the only ones able to make the "bad batch" actually pull right.

i loved everyone's faces! Leslie, is it too hot?!?

Tami suffered blisters on her fingers...but it turned out to be a mighty tasty taffy!!

Tim and Emily got the system down with the second batch!

Thanks to all that came! What a great night. We'll have to do it again!

Looks like fun. I have only been to one taffy pull and Bill and Mary Masters with the Bible Class and I dropped some on their carpet and felt terrible!! Smart idea to put down sheets.

I wonder if anyone else in the whole entire world has had a taffy pull in the last 100 years besides AC's.

that's funny Jon...I've never thought about that! Probably the Amish pull taffy too!

SO fun! My mom used to have taffy pulls back in the day. We actually just told her at Christmas that we would love to do one again sometime! That is a great idea to do!

We just had a taffy pull on Sunday evening with our little family (Mark, I and the kids). It was so much fun. Mark's family usually has a taffy pull once a year so we decided to start the tradition with our own family. I totally agree with the sticky taffy on your socks. That is one reason I'm not a big fan of taffy pulls but we did it on the kitchen floor and it wasn't too bad. I know we'll be doing it again. The next morning Nathan's first comment to me was "Mom can I have some of that candy that we made last night". So we had candy for breakfast. Great memories!

Well, Tami, I think I said your taffy was good...but here is the new statement: Leslie and Tami are also taffy pulling machines! Their taffy was so light it was like merangue.(sp?) How's that?

Sara, sounds so fun to do that as a family tradition. One of my fun memories of pulling taffy was at Mark and Brad's house back in the Young group days. Very fun!

Jen, I actually remember you there pulling taffy! I just remember a lot of screaming and laughing!

Sara, actually I think that might have been the night of one of my most embaressing moements...involved a message left on Mark's answering machine. You'll have to ask him about it sometime.

It was a BLAST! Thanks for hosting!!! Katie LOVED being the "butter girl!" She stills thinks it was more fun than a b-day party!
