
Today is President George W. Bush's last day in office. I know that he isn't very popular in a lot of people's eyes anymore. But I read a quote today that made me think of him. It's actually a quote by one of America's former Presidents, Theodore Roosevelt.
“It is not the critic who counts: not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again, because there is no effort without effort or shortcoming, but who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, who spends himself for a worthy cause; who, at the best, knows, in the end, the triumph of high achievement, and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with these cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat.” (1910)
If I could, I'd thank President Bush for doing a job that is terribly difficult...one that many of us wouldn't have the first clue how to undertake. I would thank him for 8 years of service to a country he loves. I would thank him for being a president who acknowledged his need for God and His wisdom.

We appreciate your comments. We also are sad to see a President leave who stood by what he really believed was right. We feel that someday it will be recognized what he did for our country. When you stand up for what is right you are going to have enemies. He is a good man but was put under lots of pressure immediately by 9/11.
God bless President Bush and may He continue to bless our country with our new leadership. We need to pray now more than ever.

that was SO good rebekah. it summed up a lot of things i have felt. i've been wondering if a thank you note would ever make it to him. i've figured probably not.

I absolutely love that quote by Teddy Roosevelt. I have heard it many times and have heard it applied to many people.
I also really respect George W. and I think in several years, or maybe even after he is long gone, his actions will be looked back on as courageous and heroic. He is hated now, but someday he will be regarded as one of America's best presidents.

Amen to that! It has made me so sad seeing how people disrespect him so much! That is not right.
