What I've been Up to

Well, it's been a really long time since I've posted...so long in fact that I've been worrying one, Jon E. down in sunny Naples. Don't worry, I am fine...just too lazy to blog I'm afraid. Thanks for your concern and I will try to do better.

My family is just getting over being sick...I won't go into details because hearing about other people being sick is not something I enjoy.

All I can say is, "I CAN'T wait till spring!". I wish we could sneak off to visit you in Naples Jon. But I won't complain...we did get the most beautiful week ever in December.

Well, some of the events in my life lately that have kept be from blogging:
1. Matt and I got to hear the Vienna Boys' Choir in concert (thanks to Tami's Christmas generosity!) They were absolutely amazing...Even better than listenning to them on a CD or seeing them on a TV. The best part was that they looked so little and were obviously just normal boys that just happen to have an amazing talent. One of the boys who had lots of the solos was a little boy from Japan...made me so proud of my Japanese connection with him that when they asked in the crowd if anyone was from Japan I waved wildly from the balcony. Matt looked at me and said, "you're not from Japan"...I said, "I WAS!" Humph....no one except the only other couple under 80 sitting next to us saw me. Oh well.

2. I had a sleepover with my Bible study girls. (I'll load pictures of all these events later) We are a spoiled bunch of girls who get to leave our kids with our angelic husbands and spend the night talking, eating and laughing our heads off. It's pretty wonderful. And I do really think we are spoiled...but hopefully not brats!

3. I hosted my Bible study girls and their husbands for a Valentine's dinner. We had one last year that was pretty fun so we decided to do it again. Once again we were all laughing so hard that our faces hurt by the end of the night.

4. My sisters, a few other ladies, and I have started Vision with the 7th - 10th grade girls from church. I missed last night because I was ill but the first night was really nice and I can't wait to spend another couple weeks. (Like I said, I'll post more pictures later) This is one thing that I always look around at some point and think, "boy, we are blessed to get to do this. What an opportunity to be a part of these girls' lives"

5. Spring cleaning...I was inspired by Sarah and my sister Heidi. And I guess inspired by the absolute wreckage of all my closets! So, day by day I am slowly but surely getting this house in order...and lots of things are also making their way to the curb, Goodwill, or consignment shops. We are also going to have a garage sale in May (with my sisters too) So, if any of you live close and want to come buy our junk...that would be great!

6. And last but not least...I'm actually going to try to train for a half marathon this year. I know, you runners are thinking, "that is no biggie lady". But I am not a runner. I was as a youngster but not in the last decade!! Anyway, my sisters and I decided to do it together and run in the Chicago half marathon this fall. So, if any of you runners have good advice that would be great! We've downloaded info off the internet on how to train for this...so here we go!

Well, there's other stuff going on but I won't bore you any longer.

Have a nice day!

Rebekah,

Gerb and Natalie are planning to run that marathon, maybe Steve. Andy and I plan to cheer them on while eating our hotdogs from the sideline ;-)

I love your motivation - send some my way for running and cleaning!!

BTW, I really like the coffee table! It caused me to get inspired to rearrange my living room but after living with it for awhile, we put it back to the same way it was before...with the coffee table tho and a few extra nail holes in the wall (oh well!)

Talk to you later!
Love, Jill

you're so brave...i was going to keep the marathon thing a secret for the big possibility that i wouldn't be able to do it...but i have not 'come out' with it on my blog too because you did. :)

hey, Bek! Have you girls checked out that book "The Non-Runners Marathon Trainer"? It's great. Morgan used it to train to run his marathon, and I used it for a while when I was training to run mine. I highly recommend it. And I really admire your determination and ambition. :) Way to go!
