Friday Five

I haven't done one of these in awhile. I feel like these "Friday Five" posts are just confirmation of my utter nerdiness. But oh well...if you've read this blog long, you already knew that...so here it goes.

Five Podcasts I Enjoy:

1. Nuclearity with Hugh Duncan. Unfortunately, this one isn't actually available on ITunes anymore. I guess he's going to be starting up something else in the future but for now he's not doing this podcast anymore. But I found a website where you can listen to the ones he did or download them if you like. They are really well done and very interesting topics. It reminds me of "This American Life" (but Christian) for those of you who listen to NPR. I think there are 39 episodes. Here is the link to the place where you can find them.

2. "Lux Radio Theater" Podcast. This one is definitely up there with not just being a nerd but probably just plain peculiar. But ever since I was a teenager, I have loved old time radio shows...not so much the comedies or the mysteries but the cheesy "dramas". I used to tape record the "Lux Radio Theater" on Sunday nights at 8:00 up in my bedroom and then my sister, Heidi and I would listen to them while we drove to our cleaning job every week. Admit it Heidi, you liked 'em too! So, you can only imagine my breathless excitement when I found a whole podcast full of free Lux episodes!! (now I'm bordering on bizarre!!). So, I listen to them when I clean around the house or run outside. They are mindless but fun. Here's the link for anyone as strange as me who would like to check 'em out. http://www.botar.us/lux.xml or just look them up on ITunes.

3. Inside Look with Greg Wheatley. Since I just wrote about a mindless podcast, maybe I can redeem myself a bit with this one. Matt and I love Greg Wheatley. He used to host a two hour show called Prime Time America that just ended last summer. I can't even tell you how bummed we have been about it. I think some of our friends have already had to listen to us bemoan the fact that we no longer get to hear Greg's classy, brilliant, witty and interesting daily dialogue with other great guests. He truly has an amazing gift for asking questions that everyone wishes they had thought of. So, I was also excited (but not quite gasping) when I found his Saturday show. I'm often busy when it actually airs on our radio so I just listen in later in the week when I have time. He has all sorts of interesting guests talking about all kinds of "smart" topics. Definitely not mindless.http://feeds.feedburner.com/InsideLookRadio. You can also find him on ITunes.

4. Plugged In Podcast. I really enjoy this one because it gives me an update on pop culture but from a Christian worldview. It's quick but interesting and I feel like it's great info for parents to know what's out there for our kids. (and not for our kids!). Find them on ITunes.

5. "Life Story Podcast". I found this on ITunes and it is so neat. If you like listening to people tell their life stories and how they found Christ, you will like this podcast. So far, my favorite is Churck Colson's story. I knew his story but to hear him talk about it was just was so moving. Powerful! It's been a great podcast to listen to while I'm working around the house. http://www.lifestory.org/lifestory.xml . Find it on ITunes.

If you check some of these out I hope you enjoy them and let me know what you think! If you are already a listener, tell me what you think of them!!

Have a grand weekend!

I used to love to listen to Lux Radio Theater when driving from Indiana to Illinois on Sunday evenings. I also love to listen to Greg Wheatley. Enjoyed the post.
