Matt's Winter Bucket List

Matt has a "winter bucket list". Basically, it's the things he really wants to get done before he's ready to see spring come. The last few winters haven't been cold enough or we've been busy when it was cold to get his list checked off. But this year, we've done them all! With the blizzard a week and a half ago, he checked off the last item on his "bucket list".

Matt's Winter Bucket List

1. Go sledding (check! We sledded with our kids at Andy and Marie's way back in the beginning of December...they really "red necked" it by driving Andy's SUV around their yard while the sleds were tied to the hitch with long ropes. Kind of like water skiing on your lawn)

2. Make a fire in the snow and make hot chocolate over it. Drink the hot chocolate in the snow (Check! We did this on the ice as seen in our previous post and I think he may have done it once with Josh before that)

3. Go ice skating on a pond. (check! He got to do this a few times before the blizzard. There's no way he's going to shovel all that snow now!)

4. Have a taffy pull (Check!)

5. Build a snow fort (Check!! He built what he says is the best snow fort of his life thus far. He spent hours out in the snow during his snow day and then on Saturday with the kids. At one point he had been out so long I was afraid he may be lying out in the snow from a heart attack. But he was fine and happy!)

That's his bucket list! And just to add one more, I went snow shoeing on the golf course at night. My neighbor let me borrow her snow shoes. It was so fun!

So, now we're ready for spring :)

Here's pictures of the snow fort building process.

The snow was so heavy that he was able to cut "bricks" out of the snow.

He dug a tunnel about 15 ft. long. Here comes Josh crawling through it.

Working on one of his walls

here's one side of the fort. This is the side with the 15 foot tunnel. The tunnel takes you into a room with windows and a tunnel leading out the other side.

Another view of the slide...it was long and slippery! So fun!

can you see the window?

It's been a fun winter for snow lovers!!
